The six month countdown.

Realizing that Easter is upon us, I also am coming to the realization that I only have six months to the big day, and every year, I say I'm going to start my projects early.  This we know, doesn't happen.

When I made my Tom Riddle tombstone, it was my first 3-D tombstone.  I have made a couple since, but at the time I thought about doing all of the characters who passed on from Harry Potter.  Essentially, make my yard haunt Godric's Hollow and then someday expand to a 'classroom' for Potions and Defense Against the Dark Arts.  Since the final part of the movie will be out long before Halloween, I'm thinking of making my Harry Potter themed cemetary.

I just hate the thought of ruining the books or movies for the kidlets, but I figure the older ones will have read the books (I hope) and that the younger ones, can't read so it won't matter anyway.  I would just hate to have to put out a Spoiler Alert Warning in my neighbors yard!

The ups and downs of The PumpkinLady

Since Christmas, things have been, active to say the least.  For one, Squish, our newest pumpkin, is AWESOME!!!! She's ALWAYS smiling, laughing, and looking for a good time (and in 15 years this is going to be and issue!).  She's smaller than Fred ever was, but is doing just fine. She just started eating solids at six months, is still attached to my boob, hates bottles and pacifiers which is a good thing, IF life weren't so hectic.

Chris and I have been fine.  We want to return to normal, but Squish has other plans for that!  We have a few trips planned, but none to get away on our own yet. We've worked on our house here and there and are getting ready to move the art room to the basement and give Squish her own room.  Chris bought a new fancy truck just before Christmas, which is still funny, but he's already bought lots of wood for me and our projects, which means more leftovers for Halloween prop building!!!

Now for the hectic life.  My Dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer early last year.  Since then it has turned into bone cancer and because it was slow, and he didn't want to do chemo, he waited.  This past January, it has spread almost entirely through his bones, head to toe, had emergency colon surgery to repair a hole, and diabetic sugar levels that have stumped doctor's with them asking 'how are you even still concious?'.  While all this is going on, I've had to deal with family that has not accepted me as his daughter for well over, well, I'm 31...Nonetheless, he was given a six month time line, two months ago. Dealing with him dying is the easy part almost.  I wish it was quicker for him, I wish he would have done all the things he wanted to with his life, and I hope he can come to terms, which he still hasn't.  But, it's given me one thing, I'm going to live as best I can and have no regrets, just lessons learned.

Now, that last sentence is loaded.  Since I still have many holes left from friendships past, and I really haven't filled them as much as I should have by now. So the nights when the 'daddy issues' crop up, so do the ghosts of friendships past. And it's a bitch.  But I have Miss Squish usually somewhere by my side to remind me, that right now, I've got her and her big sister to get them started on their lives. And I've very thankful I have a husband who can handle all of it and still love me in the morning. They aren't replacements, not at all, but they need me right now and that's what I'm focusing on. I take a little me time here and there, but I've been bad about hanging out with some of my friends that still live in town.

Speaking of the girls, Fred is finishing up her first (and only) year of preschool.  She's made many friends, and since most of them are all splitting of to other schools in the fall, perhaps some will stick.  A few kids are going to the same school as she just got into (granted, most of there parents camped out for four days, I got up at 4am and stood in line to get them in.) But having a public montessori school just down the street was totally worth it.  I made the waiting list and we got the call a week ago.  Which that call probably gave my mother a heart attack since I was screaming when I saw the schools number on the phone!  She's taken up the preschool shuttle duty and making things easier on me and making new friends of her own (Preschool Grandma's United).

Then on Sunday, I lost yet another distant smiling, wonderful face. Rodger drowned on Sunday evening out for the first boating trip of the year.  I wasn't there, and I haven't seen him in a while, but we kept in touch via facebook and mutual friends on mine and my husbands.  He and I went to HS together and he was behind me during the graduation telling me to not be the white girl that trips and falls and other naughty but completely laughable cat calls.  It was an avoidable loss, but it happened and now I've spent a few days grieving him.

So, much stress. It comes and goes every time my Dad goes into the hospital, every new 'preschool plague' that is brought home, and much watching of Sons of Anarchy is occupying my time. But I just realized, six months til Halloween, and I've got work to do amid the chaos.
