Summer in April

Well, it's been hot...I mean HAWT.  But it has also been an interesting few days.

Friday rundown- Fred went to play at her friend D's Monday while I went to City Hall with Randall Flagg.  I've never been there, and I have to say, it's one of the most beautiful places this city has.  Stained glass windows throughout, marble staircases with worn spots from all the traffic.  And quiet during lunch hour!  We picked up a radar gun so I can clock all the speeders on our street!  But it's not as easy as you think.  How anyone got tickets in the 80's beats me.  The radar gun is a P.O.S, but it does the job.  The John Deer Powerwheels with a low battery was clocked at a whopping four miles per hour!
The evening brought on a couple of mild fevers, but tons of bike riding and hanging out with the neighbors. Fred stood in the driveway with her friend D and told us 'I'm making magic with my shoes' as she clicked her "ruby slippers" together!  Yes, I damn near cried. I marinated chicken breasts with a herb and lemon sauce and added extra lemon juice.  Chris came home and grilled and prepared dinner, which was awesome.  I love being able to grill! And even better, in bed before midnight.

Saturday, we planned to cookout.  So I went to training which was brutal.  But, I think it will pay off soon.  It's just so slow.  We decided to run to Target, got distracted by a Chinese restraunt, and I had brought up that I missed Icky. So then we turned the other direction and headed to The Scratching Post.  We haven't decided if we want one or two.  If we go for two, we want littermates.  There are three that have been altered and were handraised, but two are boys.  Chris is still hesitant to have a male cat.   But I'm in love with a grey and white male.  I did manage to freak the lady out when I asked 'Do you have any with anything missing...legs, eyes, ears?'  It took her a minute to realize I was serious, and I continued to explain Squeaks' story.  So, we'll see if there is any chance of getting two of those kittens.

Saturday evening the Mullens came over, we grilled out, chatted, rode bikes, played ghost in the graveyard, in the sandbox and the girls watched Return to Oz much to my amusement.  All the girls got along.  D and her sister A came over and everyone got along swimmingly (few tiffs, but nothing like last year!)  Still have to work on Fred and her sharing.

But this week is all about moving her room, potty training and cleaning out some closets.   Will have pics of our Sunday projects soon as I find my memory cards!
